3 uses of a tripod lamp to create the perfect environment

When we talk about a tripod we are referring to a support which, as the name itself suggests, is consisting of three rods joined at the same vertex in order to create a structure equipped with three supports. Made of different materials (including, in the past, especially metal and wood), the tripod allows you to provide stability and control the positioning of any object placed on it.

Tripod and light: a contemporary combination

It is not It is therefore a coincidence that in contemporary times the tripod is combined with light, becoming a necessary element for both photographic and film cameras. The first cameras, in fact, were bulky and heavy instruments, equipped with wooden and metal compartments and instruments that were difficult to support only with the strength of the arms or fingers (a bit like we would do today with a digital camera or a smartphone ). For this reason, in order to make less effort and at the same time have a better image rendering, the first cameras were necessarily equipped with a three-legged support, which improves stability of the appliance, preventing it from moving or, worse, falling and breaking. A discussion of this type also applies to movie cameras, the older sisters of cameras, which, especially in the first period of their life, are very heavy and, for this reason, need a support that allows man to concentrate more. on image than on physical effort. Over time, then, the tripod is has remained a distinctive element of professional photographers and videomakers who, thanks to increasingly more tools, at the cutting edge, they were able to perfect the technique and therefore the rendering of photographs and filming. But from lenses, shutters and films to lamps the step is short: the entry of the tripod into the world of lighting, in fact, has a name and a date. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the multifaceted artist Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo, looking for a way to create indirect and diffused light in a scenographic environment, discovers not only that with the use of fabrics to be placed in front of the light beam it is possible to obtain indirect and soft lighting, but also that this can be directed thanks to the positioning of the light right above a tripod used for cameras, thus building the first tripod lamp model. This, later patented for the first time by AEG, will become an element widely used both in the world of theater and, subsequently, in the world of entertainment.

The second is the bedroom, where this source can make a good show of oneself next to the bed or as a light point in a corner: also in this case lighting plays an important role for an area of the house that is responsible for sleep and rest.

  • The tripod lamp in a professional studio

If inserted in the studios of photographers, architects and interior designers, but also of professionals less close to the world of creativity such as lawyers and accountants, a tripod lamp brings different values, as well as different uses. In the first case, in fact, it becomes a vehicle of taste for what the past has to tell, as well as an inimitable style (the industrial one). In the second case, however, its function becomes perfect not only for illuminating an entire room but also for "turning on the spotlights".
